On Friday, under the warmth of the shining sun, we welcomed 12 local primary schools to compete in the 7-a-side tournament for the Breda Academy Primary School Football Tournament at The Olympia Football Stadium. The beautiful weather added to the excitement, making it a perfect day for football.
Our Northern Ireland Football League Scholarship students once again did an incredible job of organizing and running the tournament. Each primary school was assigned a coach, who, just like last year, became as competitive as the students themselves!
After a series of competitive group stage matches, the tournament split into two sections: the Plate and the Cup.
A special mention to this year’s winners:
Cup:
- 1st: Blythefield Primary School
- 2nd: Elmgrove Primary School
- 3rd: Nettlefield Primary School
Plate:
- 1st: Donegal Road Primary School
- 2nd: Taughmonagh Primary School
- 3rd: Cregagh Primary School
The individual awards this year were also fiercely contested. Becker from Elmgrove Primary School was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performances. Callum, representing Donegal Road Primary School, took home the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award after a series of remarkable saves.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the schools, students, and teachers who took part. The enthusiasm and sportsmanship on display created an amazing atmosphere. Congratulations to all the teams for their exceptional performances.
